This weekend we had Elisabeth’s 1st Birthday Party. Aunt Sarah, Uncle Jeff and Cousin Jessica made the long drive to join in on the fun. The kids had a ball playing together. Benjamin & Jessie got along so well and were sooo cute together! After the initial 5 minutes that it took for them to get over being shy with each other, they played together as if they had always been playmates. It was fun to watch them running around like crazy and playing games together. They managed to smash heads together only once – Benjamin was much more broken over this than Jessica, but Jessica had the biggest knot on her head! We went for frozen custard at Sandy’s (yummmm) Friday night, had the party on Saturday and Sunday was spent visiting Scott’s work, sight-seeing at Ha Ha Tonka, and playing at the park. By the end of the day on Sunday, both kids were exhausted. Benjamin was so tired that he cried for at least a half an hour before going to sleep. He kept saying, “I can’t sleep” and even implied that since Jessie was awake (he heard her getting ready for bed) that he should be up too. He was so sad that she wasn’t going to be here when he woke up in the morning, which made me & Sarah sad too! The good news is that they’ll both have something to look forward to as we get closer to our trip to Michigan in the upcoming weeks.

Hold the Onions, Please

Monday morning I told Benjamin that I was making meatloaf for dinner. The child LOVES meatloaf so I expected him to be excited, but instead, he looked at me very seriously and said, “Mommy will make the meatloaf without onions.” What a turkey! Of course I would never make him eat anything he doesn’t like, but I still made it with onions. He can pick them out if he doesn’t want to eat them!

On another note, we have two sick babies today. Both have ear infections and are quite miserable, which means that Mommy’s not doing too great either. Sarah’s coming in on Friday (woohoo!) to see my very messy house. It’s hard to clean when both kids think I need to hold them constantly!

This & That

It’s official! Elisabeth’s walking. While her steps are still unsure, she can now take several at a time without falling over. She’s quite in control of herself. Big Brother is SO proud of her and claps her on every step of the way!

As most everyone should know by now, Benjamin is severely allergic to peanuts and has thus far been unable to partake in the timeless classic, the peanut butter sandwich. Thanks to the Soynut Butter I recently purchased, he is no longer deprived of this childhood staple. It looks and smells just like good old PB, but the taste is off. I guess if you never had the “real” thing, you don’t know the difference. Benjamin gobbled it up and we even made soynut butter cookies. I don’t think I could eat it on bread, but anything tastes good in cookie form!!!
